The Okinawa Peace Memorial Park
The Okinawa Peace Memorial Park,which opened in 1972 at the site where the Battle of Okinawa ended in the city of Itoman, covers an area of 40 hectares. Within this park, there are the Okinawa National War Cemetery, monuments and memorials from various prefectures, as well as the Okinawa Peace Memorial Museum, all of which convey the value of peace. The park extends into a hilly area overlooking the sea, which serves as a picnic and leisure area.
