Takachiho Shrine
Takachiho Shrine is an ancient shrine located in Takachiho City, Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan. It is an important religious site and historical landmark in the area. Built approximately 2000 years ago, the shrine enshrines important deities from Japanese mythology, such as Ame-no-Minakanushi-no-Kami and Sukunahikona-no-Kami.
The shrine’s architecture is elegant and dignified, with its red torii gates and white shrine buildings complementing each other, exuding a rich traditional Japanese cultural atmosphere. Every year, local residents hold various festivals and ceremonies to pray for good harvests and peace. Additionally, the shrine is surrounded by dense vegetation and a tranquil atmosphere, making it an ideal place for visitors to pray, explore, and experience Japanese Shinto culture.

Takachiho Shrine is located at the western end of the town center, about a 10-15 minute walk from the bus center. Some hotels in the area offer a free shuttle bus to and from the evening Yokagura performances to staying guests. Otherwise, a taxi is the most convenient way to access the shrine.
