Fukuoka Castle

Fukuoka Castle, also known as “Fukuoka Castle Ruins” or “Maizuru Castle,” is a historically significant castle site located in Fukuoka City, Japan, with rich historical and cultural value. Situated in the heart of Fukuoka City, the castle is one of the symbols of Fukuoka.

Fukuoka Castle was originally constructed in the early 17th century by Kuroda Nagamasa and was subsequently expanded and renovated multiple times. The castle is characterized by its sturdy stone walls and moats, designed for strong defense. Within the castle grounds are beautiful gardens and exquisite architectural structures, showcasing the craftsmanship and culture of that era.

Today, while Fukuoka Castle no longer stands in its entirety, the castle site has been transformed into a historical park, preserving some historical buildings and remnants of stone walls. Visitors can stroll through the castle site, appreciating the historical significance and the beautiful natural surroundings. Additionally, there are museums and cultural centers around the Fukuoka Castle area that exhibit the history and cultural heritage of Fukuoka.

Fukuoka Castle serves as a connection between the past and the present, offering insight into Fukuoka’s rich history and the charm of traditional Japanese culture. It provides an opportunity not only to admire the grandeur of the castle but also to experience the allure of Japanese heritage.
