Hakone Owakudani, situated in the Hakone volcanic region of Japan, is a geothermal valley known for its active sulfur vents and hot springs. Visitors can experience the traditional method of cooking eggs in the naturally heated waters, turning the eggshells black, a local specialty known as “Kuro-tamago.”

Owakudani is a station along the Hakone Ropeway between Sounzan and Togendai. Sounzan is accessible from Hakone-Yumoto by Hakone Tozan Railway and cablecar with a transfer at Gora Station. Togendai is on the shores of Lake Ashinoko and is connected by boat with Moto-Hakone and Hakone-machi.
